Monday 08/02/21 Being Active in Denmark
The rain continued all through
the night but slowly stopped in the morning. We decided to check out the
possibility of me kayaking from Denmark to Wilson Inlet and Rob would see if he
could play a round of golf at the very nice looking Denmark golf club. We were
able to do both of these things so while I was kayaking, Rob was off playing
golf. I thoroughly enjoyed my kayaking and easily made the trip from Denmark to
the Inlet. It was quite calm so I took the opportunity to explore around the
edge of Wilson Inlet and then managed to stop at the entrance to the inlet,
drag the kayak up the bank a little and purchase a lovely coffee at the café. I
was proud that I was able to do all this without my “kayak boy” being around to
assist me as it’s the first time I’ve done something like this since having my
left hip replaced. I gave Rob a call while having coffee and he was half way
around the golf course. I kayaked back to our stating point in town and then
headed further up the Denmark River until Rob gave me a call to say that he had
completed his round of golf. He drove back and we loaded the kayak onto the car
and headed back to the van for lunch…..Rob had to buy a pie from the other
bakery just to double check which bakery had the best pies. In the afternoon we
headed out to the wild and windswept West Cape Howe National Park. Although we
only visited a couple of places in this park as the 4xW drive tracks were very
soft, it was well worth it as the beaches, and surrounding areas were pretty
spectacular. We went to a lookout where, hang gliders take off from and it was
just soooo windy. Had a very enjoyable day!
Golf was good, I scored 32 points in windy and very
damn under foot conditions. Lovely course.
