Thursday 04/02/21 Had a whale of a time…without visiting the old whaling station!

We had been told to visit Emu Point which is a short distance from Albany and at the very narrow entrance to one of the bays off the main Frenchmen’s Bay. There was a very popular café located right on the point and so we headed there for breakfast. It was extremely popular and could see why.  We had to wait to get an inside table but the surrounding views from the point were very picturesque. The bay was so protected and very calm despite the weather not being the best. We intended to visit the Old Whaling Station and headed out towards the station. Unfortunately, when we arrived there, a sign had been placed near the entrance to say that people who had been in certain areas between certain dates were not allowed to enter the museum and Pat and Allan had been so we didn’t enter. Instead we had a very enjoyable time visiting the Blow Holes and then driving out past Denmark to see the spectacular coastal scenery including, Madfish Bay, Waterfall Beach, Elephant Rocks and Green Pool. The photos can do the talking! There was an incident at Elephant Rocks during a “photo shoot” with the boys. Allan and Rob were having their photo taken standing between two large rocks when a wave washed in. Allan was quick on his feet and managed to get out the way so his feet didn’t get wet…..Rob was a little slower and consequently had wet shoes and socks. Anyway just before we went to head back to the car, Allan couldn’t find his phone. In his speediness to avoid wet feet, his phone had fallen from his pocket. He luckily recovered the phone after its “swim” and it appears none the worse for wear. We returned to the caravan park for a late lunch and some relaxation! We are looking forward to going out for dinner tonight.

The Earl of Spencer was a great pub, one of the oldest and very British. Great time had.
