Wednesday 03/02/21 Golf, Gifts, Gales, Gaps and Giggly Girls
Today the
boys were up bright and early to play a round of golf on the Albany Golf
course. While they were off enjoying their golf us girls went out to the old,
historic part of Albany, near the port and enjoyed a lovely breakfast at one of
the many, nice cafes. Following our delicious breakfast we ventured down the
main street mainly to check out the beautiful, historic buildings. We then then
headed off to visit the Mt Romance Sandalwood Factory and checked out the range
of sandalwood products there as well as finding out about the sandalwood
industry in WA. The weather was quite calm and even on the warm side when we
went into the shop but by the time we left, a change had swept through and the
wind was up and the temperature had dropped. As we headed back to the caravan
park there were a few spots of rain. It wasn’t long before the boys arrived
back from golf. They had enjoyed themselves and had managed to finish before
the cooler weather came in. After lunch we decided to head to the Torndirrup
National Park to see the Gap and Natural Bridge, with the wind and resulting
high seas the views at these areas were spectacular. Heading back to Albany we
called into the Limeburners Distillery for some tastings. The boys tried some
whiskeys, while the girls tried the gins. Before returning to the caravan park
we called into the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial, set high on a hill overlooking
the bays and close to the National ANZAC Centre. Another moving memorial for
the First WW and again in a beautiful setting.
