Wednesday 17/02/21 A Grand Day at Cape Le Grand National Park

After quite a warm night we headed out with both a packed lunch and our bathers. We have yet to use our bathers on this trip and no we haven’t done any skinny dipping. It was up to 36 degrees driving out to Cape Le Grand National Park. This park is famous for its beaches and the fact that kangaroos are often seen sunning themselves on some of the beaches. We had investigated, about a week ago, the possibility of staying in one of the camp-sites in the national park. We were unable to book into any of the spots because they were completely booked out until the end of March and we soon learnt why. Our first stop was Le Grand Beach. The water was a beautiful shade of turquoise and a great swell was breaking, good for both body surfing and learning to surf with a board. We drove a little way along the beach and both went in for a very refreshing swim. The water was so clean and clear. I cannot do any of the places we stopped justice but hopefully the photos give you some idea. Visits and swims at Hell-fire Bay, and Lucky Bay followed. Lucky Bay was very busy so we drove along the beach and found our own swimming spot. We spent about half an hour here and just as we were finishing, the wind changed direction and the calm water had white-caps. We returned to Le Grand beach and drove a short distance along the beach. The beach was now deserted and we ate our lunch sitting in the car and watching the waves and the changing weather. Returning to Esperance, the clouds moved in, and the thunderstorms started. It was still quite warm though.
